SC283- Birthday Breezes

Okay, so it’s a stupid name. Look what I gave me to work with! Hmph. Snort.

So, I saw this sketch and immediately knew I wanted to use that window. Problem 1: couldn’t find it. Looked EVERYWHERE. Finally gave up (after organizing all my dies and labeling them… I’ve got issues) and started to do something else. Went to put something away, and there was the window and another die from the same company. WOOT!

Problem 2: It’s wider than 4.25. Okay so 5×7 card works. Yepper doos. I sure hope my friend has someone she likes to write a lot to.

What? What does that have to do with anything, you ask? Well, why else do you think the standard card size is A2? Because there’s not much writing room in the one half. SOOOOOOOOOOOOO if you want to write a lot, you can. You just use the other half, add a few sheets of paper–whatever. If not, you don’t look like a lazybones taking a 5×7 card and writing two sentences on it. You also don’t look ridiculous by making your usually miniscule cursive into the size of a 7th grader girl who fills up a sheet of college ruled paper with four sentences.

So, then I cut out the wrong color pink for the background, wasted a ton of paper cutting just the right part of that tree, found the right pink again, and generally made a mess of things.

Oh, and as I stamped the sentiment, I also stamped every birthday one from that DVD case onto a sheet of paper as a cover image AND onto a piece of card stock so I can find my stamps easier. I also labeled the edge of the box. Finally.

And that Christmas tree made out of words? Yeah, it’s being stored with Christmas stamps now instead of all my birthday sentiments.

Will wonders never cease?

P.S. I added the TINIEST hint of antiquing to the insides of the window panes and the outside of the thing. If I had not used PTI’s GREAT THICK paper (Gina K’s would be even better!!!) then that window wouldn’t have survived. So, if you want to add a bit of depth (and it’s tiny, but it does make a difference), use GOOD PAPER.

Paper: PTI White, SU Stripes, My Minds Eye or Memory Box trees, PTI Pink and Smokey shadow

Ink: Unity Burnt umber or something like that. Brain fry

Accessories: Ummmm Maison or Madison (don’t remember which) window from a company with a green and white paper envelope. oh and SU border punches scalloped and well, whatever that one is

Techniques: I call it “making a mess that turns out pretty nice anyway

Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 1-easy (or would have been if I didn’t add in all that organizing and stuff.

SC284- Birthday-Fly

Okay, obviously my creative title juices are not flowing. My blender must be broken.

So see that sentiment. It’s crooked. The killer is, that it’s crooked on the stamp. Not straight across crooked, but the rubber actually juts upward a bit. It’s weird. Now, it looks worse in the picture than it is, but imagine someone taking an L and bending it ALLLLLLLLLLLmmost to horizontal. Yep. that’s what it looks like. And, I used my Stamp a ma jig. I couldn’t have changed this. It’s the rubber.

How can I fix that on a “bar” of rubber?

Meanwhile, I like the rest. The duplicate card is “straighter,” but it’s actually an optical illusion. The ends are fainter because they didn’t get pressed well, so it looks straight.

I haven’t tried the other ones in the set yet… gulp

SC285-Anniversary Blooms

I saw this technique on Pinterest (thanks to one of the CBChicks), clicked through, and found this card:

I had to try it. couldn’t find my markers, so I had to use the aqua painter with chalks. It’s nearly impossible to lay down layers on top of each other with chalks and the aqua painter, so the leaves aren’t how I’d like them, but I think it looks lovely anyway. I can’t wait to do it again and do it “right.” WOOT!

I’ve been WAITING for the right card to use these Paper and Such stamps with. Man, I miss that company.

Ink: Versamark and then chalks to “paint” with oh and Sahara Sand for sentiment

Accessories: White embossing powder, QuicKutz doily, su chalks, aqua painter

Techniques: I call it awesomeness since I don’t know the real name

Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 2–because the chalk version is a bear on bigger areas.

SC286- Inside Joke

Love this sentiment. I thought it would be perfect for those masculine cards you always need but never know what to put on–particularly for guys who aren’t outdoorsmen on a quest for buck or fish.

I plowed through scraps for this one, so it’s a UIU too! (use it up). Woohoo.
