chautona-card64I’ve been dying to use this snail for ages. Doesn’t he just scream, “I’m taking my sweet time to get you your birthday card?” What a perfect way to pin the blame on something cute instead of me! *cough*

Okay, so these are actually going to readers who signed up for my birthday card program just a day or two late for their birthday month. I just had to use this stamp, so I used it as an excuse to send theirs out this year. WOOT!

Washi the Day

chautona-card63Fastest, easiest cards on the planet. I seriously did all 4 in about 10 minutes tops. I wanted to play with the idea of the all black and white after doing a black and white spread in my EC planner. So, I did it. Liked it. Then I wondered what colors would look like. So I did that.
Look, they’re not genius cards. They’re not super amazing CAS masterpieces either. They’re just cards. But they’re nice and I like ’em. I won’t make LOTS like this, but if I ever need a card in the space of a couple of minutes, I now know one way to make something that looks good and is fast.

And Leigh Anne (leibetty), I TOTALLY owe you kudos for loving Versafine. I’ve never gotten the appeal. But I keep trying it because I know some people–and you are the one who comes to mind–love it. After this card, I too “get” it. CRISP. Man, that ink is crisp. I never noticed it before.

Stamps: PTI Birthday
Paper: PTI White and Gina K Black
Paper Size: A2 (5.5 x 4.25)

Whoooose Birthday?

chautona-card55 chautona-card56So, in my quest to use up things I already have, I saw this card on Pinterest:

I instantly thought, “I think someone sent me some of those in a swap (the background border thing). So, I decided to make it. Now honestly, I was SURE I was going to do it differently. I didn’t think I liked this and that and the other thing… until I did it. And found the original maker is a wise ol’ owl and I’m just a bird brain.

All cutified and ready to send out. I thought I was going to like the browns and blues better… but I don’t. I like the bright one the best. Shocker.

Stamps: PTI Birthday
Paper: PTI White base and scraps
Paper Size: A2 (5.5 x 4.25)
Ink: Versafine
Accessories: MS border things
Techniques: Punch art

Cotton Candy Birthday

chautona-card54This one I kept trying to ruin. Seriously, every time I turned around, I did something to destroy it. First I tried curling the ends of the flag. Um… yuck. So now they’re bent. Then I tried adding that border–too small. Tried again. Then I stamped the image crooked–twice–WITH THE MAJIG! So, it’s a crooked, bent mess, but I love it anyway. Even if it does look like carnival cotton candy threw up on it.

Trying to use up all my precut/colored/etc. stuff in cards. I need a TON of birthday cards, so here we go.
Stamps: PTI Birthday something or another

SC330- Close Your Eyes

chautona-SC330I am now singing that song from “An Affair to Remember.” Picture it… tons of adorable kids singing, “Close your eyes, make a wisssshhhh… and you’re there…”

What does that have to do with this card? Nuttin. But there you have it. I like it. I wasn’t looking forward to it until I started making those party favors. Then I smiled. And life was good. 😉

SC329- Bright Spot in Your Day

chautona-SC329I’m in love with this technique… when I see it done well. So, I found THIS CARD in the gallery for this sketch.

AWESOME, right? I keep trying to achieve this level of amazingness, and I keep failing. SOOOOOOOOO

I bought that stamp. I will try again. I will not fail. HA!

Meanwhile, it’s okay. It’s fine. Someone will feel loved. That’s what counts. And I won’t cry too much as I put it in the envelope.

SC328- Weathered Birthday

chautona-SC328Favorite card of the week. Made me happy. Super duper happy. But I learned something. See how those words look all nice and worn–kind of like they got sanded off the card a bit? I did that by barely inking up the stamp. Worked perfect.

Um, the second one has a perfectly crisp image. Why? Because I wasn’t very bright. I didn’t think to wipe off the stamp first. So, second one inked up all that I missed with the first one, and voila. It wasn’t nice and old looking. Oh, well. Not everyone likes things to look half dead like me, sooo I’ll probably give that one away on my blog thing. It’ll work. Meanwhile, I have this one and it makes me smile. I think it’s gonna go to my Dad. Because he’s cool. And it’s cool. And that means they fit. I must be tired–getting nonsensical. Adios.

Stamps: PTI Big Birthday Something
Paper: PTI Smokey Shadow. And other papers. That I like. One from Authentique (bottom layer–maybe the next as well. No clue on top layer)
